How to tell your parents
Most parents say no at first. They do not want to feel looked after, and they do not want you to spend. What works is the truth: you are far away, and this is so that you can worry less.
Three things that help
- Say it is a doctor checking in, not a nurse looking after them.
- Make it about you: "so that I worry less".
- Give them a way out: "if you do not like it, we stop".
